Kvaløya has several beautiful fjords and we are going to stop to take pictures close to two of them: Kaldfjord and Ersfjord. The next stop will be to enjoy a little Café and toilette stop. From here, we are moving toward a little island called Håkøya to visit the Memorial of the Tirpitz: a nazi battleship that sank here during the Second World War. This small group tour lasts for 5-6 hours. During months with evening darkness, we are hunting clear skies within the area around Tromsø. The excursion starts at 7 p.m./19:00 and the drive can take us in all directions when heading out and away from the city lights. On some days we don´t have to go very far and can enjoy more time outdoors, while on other days we have to work a bit more and do a proper "hunt" to get what we are looking for. We do see some light on most days that we are out, but there are of course no guarantees - this is a natural phenomenon. During the evening, we make several stops to look - sometimes the lights are directly over us. Usually, if the weather and lights permit it we do a longer stop with a bonfire, a pre-prepared meal (a portion of soup/stew), and a hot drink. The Northern lights are magical, but the Norwegian nature in Tromso also is. We will hunt for the northern lights, but also give you a taste of how to experience the wilderness in the dark. With a maximum of 5 guests (Tesla X ) and 4 (Tesla Y) , we will give you the best and personal experience. While driving to our destination, we tell you about the city, what we see around us, and stories from this area. We are super flexible regarding where we go and how long we stay there. On this half-day tour we will visit the famous island of Sommarøy, known as the Arctic Caribbean. Along the way we will pass through the most impressive fjords that have left us the advance of the glaciers and we will know about its geology, fauna and flora. With any luck, we can observe seabirds, eagles or even reindeer in their natural environment. The outbound journey takes approximately 2 hours, becoming a scenic experience by itself, while traveling through some of the most impressive fjords. The trek starts conveniently at the Fjellheisen cable car, a short walk from many popular locations. The meeting point is easily accessible by via a short ride with city bus, taxi, uber or shuttle bus to the cable car station, or a 30-40 minute walk from the city center. This tour is limited to a small group size of four or less for a more personal experience and more attentive guide. It's even possible for a group to choose a specific route depending on scenery preference and difficulty level (easy or moderate). Keep an eye out for wildlife!
